Position Summary

The Director, Sponsorships and Partnerships is responsible for developing and managing Technology Credit Union’s (Tech CU’s) existing and prospective strategic relationships for the purpose of, increasing brand awareness, generating new memberships and building stronger relationships within the communities and indirect relationships we serve, including SSE (Sharks Sports & Entertainment) and other potential partnerships that reach target audiences in Tech CU markets including Indirect Channel partners. This position collaborates with sponsorship and indirect partners and key stakeholders to drive ROI and KPI metrics by leading and overseeing yearly marketing strategies and roadmaps, member insights and data, financial analysis, budget planning and management, as well as market and competitive research.

Responsibilities

Strategic Business Partner Relationship Responsibilities

  • Serves in the capacity of primary relationship manager for Sharks Sports & Entertainment (SSE) and other potential future partnerships. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Developing, executing and presenting marketing and promotional strategies for SSE and other potential future partnerships.
    • Maintaining regular contact, identifying, coordinating, and leading the evolution and optimization of marketing and promotional activities to maximize these partnerships.
    • Measuring and reporting on learnings and results to meet KPI thresholds including analyzing key performance indicators to track the success of strategic initiatives. 
    • Overseeing and coordinating the sponsorship contract and event/game calendar for both SAP and Tech CU Arena by negotiating and finalizing partnership agreements, defining terms, conditions, and performance metrics that create mutually beneficial collaborations. 
    • Coordinating/delegating partnership related activities to internal stakeholders as needed, i.e. Retail Banking, Emerging Markets, Marketing, and Finance & Accounting.
  • Collaborates both internally and with SSE to ensure a cohesive integration of our Community Partner Program.  
  • Identifies prospective strategic sponsorship partners through networking, social media, referrals, self-sourced research, conferences, and other means based on their reputation, financial stability, and alignment with company values.
  • Leads monthly touch-base meetings with executive and stakeholder teams to inform and collaborate on status, key opportunities, challenges and learnings.
  • Leverages insights and data to reach audiences that payoff sponsorship investments as well as engage existing members with sponsorship opportunities.
  • Serves as the Marketing lead working with internal partners, vendors, and creative agencies to ensure SSE marketing content and messaging remains consistent, relevant, and current across all channels.
  • Keeps abreast of industry/trends, competitive landscape, and Tech CU’s value proposition.
  • Serves as the marketing liaison for Lending Indirect partners to onboard and migrate indirect members towards a direct member relationship.

Marketing Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements strategic plans for partnerships that align with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Builds acquisition and engagement for Tech CU products and services including but not limited to the Sharks and Barracuda Co-Branded Credit Card and Debit Cards.
  • Establishes, executes and oversees the SSE marketing activities for both on and off season that grows new members and deepens engagement with current Tech CU members.
  • Collaborates with the Lending line of business and Indirect Partners to build member activation workflows that further engage and cross-sell indirect members who come through those channels.
  • Identifies emerging trends and opportunities for sponsor partnerships that can drive innovation and growth for Tech CU.
  • Understands and conveys marketing, advertising, brand, and media analytics to demonstrate value to partners.

Work Schedule

  • Full-time; typically 40+ hours/week
  • Flexible within core business hours, Monday to Friday
  • Occasional extended early morning or late evening hours, and weekends, typically with advance notice

  • Adheres to internal control and security measures designed to ensure regulatory compliance and mitigate losses and errors.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related business discipline, or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in a related discipline, including exposure to financial products, policies, and procedures.
  • 5+ years of marketing strategy and execution experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of principles and practices of sponsorships and marketing.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of college level math (algebra, calculus, and statistics).
  • Strong problem solving skills with an analytical, qualitative, and detail-oriented mindset.
  • Solid ability to effectively handle multiple projects, adjust to changing priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Solid ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data, either in a statistical or narrative form.
  • Strong leadership and marketing acumen including knowledge of and experience with Marketing Technology.
  • Demonstrated initiative, self-motivation, and drive to achieve sales and service objectives.
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English, essential for formal written reports and presentations.
  • Solid ability to work well in a team environment by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with direct supervisor, co-workers, and internal/external business partners.
  • Intermediate level presentation skills, including electronic delivery (i.e., Teams, Zoom, etc.).

Licensing:  None required.

 

Travel:  Occasional travel, possibly including overnight, to existing or prospective business partners’ offices or for professional meetings/training. Holds a clear & valid California Drivers’ License. Possesses current automobile insurance. Willing to travel as required and to drive one’s own auto to conduct Tech CU business.

Typical Working Conditions:  Office environment with direct business partner interaction. May work remotely as determined by business need and individual performance

Equipment Used:  Routinely uses standard office equipment, including computer, phone, copier, and other devices.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and/or stand 90% of the day.
  • Reading a computer screen and perform keyboarding tasks for up to 85% of the day.
  • Speaking and listening to interact with clients and team in person, by phone, or video chat.
  • Ability to lift items up to 25 lbs.

Pay and Benefits

This is a grade 107 position, with a salary range from $108,600 to $157,400 with bonus potential of 10%. The anticipated range for new hires is between the low-end and midpoint of the range, depending on experience. Tech CU is a pay-for performance organization that benchmarks base pay to the 50th percentile of our market and we provide incentive-based compensation aligned with successful accomplishment of individual and corporate goals. The salary mentioned above is based on working in San Jose, CA. Salaries are based on the geographic location in which you live if working remotely.

 

Additionally, Tech CU provides health care benefits, life and disability insurance, 12 paid holidays and 401k with a company match; along with employee paid voluntary benefits. 7.08 Paid Time Off (PTO) hours accrue per bi-weekly paycheck (23 days per year) and will increase with length of service. Eight hours of Voluntary Time Off (VTO) are granted to full time employees annually to dedicate time to charitable organizations. Leaves of absences are available in adherence with state and federal regulations.
